Support South Lake Animal League

by: D.Holzman

Patricia, an employee in the Accounting Department, introduced Concord to South Lake Animal League located in Central Florida through her personal volunteer efforts at this no-kill, non-profit organization which helps abused, neglected and abandoned animals. She has encouraged her fellow employees to donate generously through our Jeans Day program, which enables employees to wear jeans on designated Fridays for a financial charitable donation.

Patricia’s volunteer efforts are in the Thrift Shop, which provides a primary source of income for the League. Visitors to the Thrift Shop will find clothing for every member of the family, household and baby items, books, toys, games, electronics, furniture, and much more. The shop receives many compliments on its appearance, neatness, cleanliness, and organization. Prices are kept low to facilitate turnover of merchandise.

Opening in 1988, Concord is proud to support South Lake Animal League in their efforts which have resulted in the adoption of over 4,500 animals into loving homes!

Should you be interested in adopting a furry friend, volunteering or making a donation, please visit www.slal.org for more details.

The Russell House

By: D. Holzman

The Concord family has offered both volunteer and financial support to the children located at The Russell Home in Orlando, Florida, for many years. It was founded in the home of Mrs. Vantrease “Grandma” Russell over 50 years ago when she reached out to assist severely disabled children who did not have a proper environment for care. She began her work by taking care of the children in her home, which her husband expanded over the years, so she could assist more children. Grandma Russell died in 2003 so her daughters continue to offer the same fine care inspired by their mother. The children continue to live today in the original Russell home.

Concord was recently touched when it was made aware that this non-profit facility, which operates without any government aid, was suffering from a 60% decrease in financial donations since 2007. Concord employees were quick to come to their aid, and I was proud to personally deliver our donation which exceeded $2,000.

I met the children and many of the staff during my visit. The Russell Home refers to all of its residents as children, as their disabilities result in them being younger than their chronological age.

Most touching for me was having the opportunity to meet their original...

Two-6 Resources

by: D. Holzman

Concord Management is proud to partner with Two-6 Resources, a non-profit organization serving Central Florida, which assist individuals with disabilities in locating employment. Concord believes that potential employees should be evaluated based upon their ABILITIES rather than focusing on impairment. Two-6 Resources has been educated on the essential skills required for many of our most common job openings and they recommend suitable candidates for our open positions. Concord has partnered with Two-6 Resources since 2009 and is proud to have hired three well-qualified employees who have key roles in working with both our prospects and residents.

Giving Back to Freedom Ride

by David Holzman

Freedom Ride is a Central Florida volunteer based organization built on the conviction that we are not bound by our physical limitations. Comprised of a team of loyal horses, instructors, therapists, and volunteers, they provide therapeutic horseback riding to children and adults with many types of disabilities… cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, multiple sclerosis, deafness, blindness and many emotional and learning disabilities.

This unique therapy helps many of its participant’s experience “living” — free of their physical limitations! Tasha and Jessica, two Concord team members, have volunteered for several years… They assist with the care of the horses, guiding the horses when being used for therapy rides, and welcoming newcomers to the therapy program. They have also inspired Concord team members to donate generously to Freedom Ride so it may continue to help challenged riders experience the mobility and relationship that only a horse can offer.
