It’s that time of the year again- tax season!
If you are looking to use a tax preparer to file your taxes, it’s important to keep in mind a few items, to protect yourself:
- Check if a tax preparer is qualified. The IRS offers this tool to assist you with finding a qualified tax preparer in your area.
- Ask about a tax preparer’s fees. Be wary of those who base fees on a percentage of the refund or promise bigger refunds than their competition.
- Never sign a blank return. If a tax preparer asks you to do this, it’s a big red flag!
Remember, regardless of who prepares your income tax return, you are responsible for all the information on it. For more tips from the IRS, click here.
